The Greatest Zionist in the World

Why the Gospel doesn’t start in the New Testament—and why God’s heart for Zion is the key to a bold witness.

It’s a phrase that stops people in their tracks, especially in today’s polarized climate: The greatest Zionist in the world is God.

To some, that sounds political. To others, it sounds provocative. But to those of us who have spent decades in the “field” of biblical mission, it is a foundational, theological reality. Zionism isn’t merely a 19th-century movement or a modern headline; it is a divine, covenantal promise-keeping mission that began long before the first century.

One of the most common gaps I see as a Jewish Missionary to the Churchis the idea that the Gospel story “begins” on the first page of the New Testament. We often treat the Hebrew Scriptures like a closed museum—interesting to visit, but not essential to the current “harvest.”

But you cannot have a harvest without roots.

When we treat the New Testament as a standalone story, we are looking at a beautiful tree while ignoring the soil that gives it life. We see a “shadowed outline” instead of the three-dimensional clarity that God intended.

God’s heart for Zion is the ultimate proof that He is a Promise-Keeper. From the moment He called Abraham, He tethered His reputation to a specific people and a specific land.

  • He observed the feasts.
  • He attended the Temple.
  • He claimed to fulfill the very Scriptures that foretold His destiny.

If God could walk away from His promises to Zion, what would that say about His promises to us? But He hasn’t. The “regathering” we see isn’t a political accident; it is the breathtaking, seamless story of redemption unfolding in vivid color before our eyes.

My role as your Missionary on Call is to help you connect these dots. When you realize that the God you serve is the Architect of Zion, your own witness changes. It moves from a hesitant “I think” to a bold and confident “I know.”

Sharing your hope simply, effectively, and biblically becomes a natural fruit of your life when you are firmly planted in the whole counsel of God—from Genesis to Revelation.

Let’s start deepening those roots today.
